DIRECTOR OF COMPUTER CENTER
The Director of the Computer Center reports to the Executive Director of Computer and
Information Services. The primary responsibilities of this position include the following:
1. Provides planning assistance to the Executive Director on administrative computing and represents, manages & coordinates the Computing Center’s role in projects requiring Center participation.
2. Works collaboratively with college departments, offices and staff, analyzing needs and developing strategies for administrative computing solutions.
3. Provides budgetary needs analysis to the Assistant Vice President and manages the Computer Center’s Budget.
4. Supervises and schedules all Computer Center Staff assigned to the operations and systems area. Presently these positions include; principal stenographer, programmer analysts, computer operations (I-III) data control specialist, and sr. data entry operators, and professional assistant III.
5. Supervises and manages all administrative computer center equipment, system software, functioning applications and data files; which includes maintaining and managing data integrity, system security and end user access.
6. Plans and maintains the mainframe’s system environment including allocating operations and files space; and writing, modifying and installing system software.
7. Works with the Computer Center’s Assistant Director for Applications Development, coordinating the planning and implementation of applications to be run on administrative computing systems.
8. Provides backup application maintenance and development support as needed.
9. Words with the assistant director for data warehousing coordinating the movement of data from mainframe files to network servers and the connections between mainframe applications and network based applications.
10. Works with the director of networking and telecommunications, coordinating Host/Terminal wiring infrastructure changes.
