COORDINATOR OF MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS
The Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs reports to the Campus Director of Student Activities and is responsible for coordinating programs which promote appreciation of cultural diversity on the Eastern Campus and for initiating activities which support the enrollment and retention of underrepresented students.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
1. Designing and implementing programs and activities which promote the understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, working with other offices and academic departments to promote multicultural awareness and a positive climate for all students.
2. Working cooperatively with the Admissions Office and other campus offices and coordinating efforts to improve the recruitment, retention, graduation and transfer rate of underrepresented students.
3. Coordinating special programs, services, workshops or other activities designed to meet the personal, social, and educational needs of underrepresented students.
4. Serving as an advocate for underrepresented students on issues which have an impact on the quality of their educational experience.
5. Providing counseling and advising to students and making referrals to other campus offices and resources.
6. Working with the staff of the Office of Student Activities to plan events and disseminate information about multicultural affairs and activities and promoting a positive image for the Eastern Campus.
7. Serving on collegewide and campus committees.
8. Assuming other duties assigned by the Director of Student Activities.
