COLLEGE DIRECTOR OF PUBLICATIONS

The Director of Publications reports to the Vice President of Intergovernmental Affairs and is primarily concerned with the development, production and review/approval of all college publications. Specific duties include the following:

1. Supervising the production of all college publications, including, but not limited to, the catalog, internal and external semester course schedules, admissions recruitment materials (i.e., brochures for curricula, financial aid, Honors program, prospective students, adult students), application, viewbook, program brochures, and annual report.

2. Writing, editing and overseeing the production and distribution of Perspectives, the college newsletter.

3. Proofreading and editing all documents to be printed in the college print shop, including announcements, letters, newsletters, brochures and booklets, or distributed as official Suffolk County Community College materials.

4. Supervising the college Print Shop.

5. Editing, formatting, and posting all College Briefs on the college Web site and e-mailing them to the college community.

6. Overseeing the content of central administration pages on the college Web site; posting press releases, news items, and calendar listings on the portal page; proofreading copy for departmental home pages.

7. Posting the annual Administrative Calendar on the college Web site.

8. Preparing and distributing to the media news releases concerning college activities and developments; initiating media contacts for coverage of college programs, events and students and faculty; answering information requests from the news media, SUNY and other public information sources.

9. Writing, upon request, feature articles about the college for the news media and SUNY.

10. Assisting the Executive Director of the Suffolk Community College Foundation, Inc., in preparing and producing printed materials for special events and campaigns; proofreading the alumni newsletter.

11. Performing other duties as assigned by the Vice President.
