College Associate Dean for Student Success
Position Description

The College Associate Dean for Student Success provides college-wide leadership and promotes programmatic effectiveness within the areas of functional responsibility outlined in the position description.  The College Associate Dean for Student Success will coordinate programs and services that enhance student success.  The College Associate Dean is expected to work cooperatively with college and campus personnel and function within a team environment.  The individual will communicate with a wide range of academic and student-affairs units to manage, coordinate, monitor, and assess the implementation of college projects and initiatives within the functional responsibilities of the position.  The College Associate Dean has managerial, supervisory, and evaluative responsibilities for respective personnel and programs.  Annual performance review of College Associate Dean to be conducted by the College Dean of Students on or before June 30 of each academic year.

The College Associate Dean for Student Success reports to the College Dean of Students, and specific responsibilities include:

1. coordinating all academic course offerings with the College Dean of Faculty;

2. providing college-wide oversight of developmental studies and chairs the Developmental Studies Committee;

3. reviewing and evaluating CPT for incoming students and integrating placement data from SAT, ACT, Regents, and other external instruments;

4. overseeing the training and content of general and discipline-specific College Seminar and First-Year Experience programs in order to ensure greater student preparation and success;

5, providing leadership of the College Success Program in collaboration with Academic Affairs office;

6. overseeing the Educational Opportunity Program and Student Support Services Program to ensure better coordination of services and compliance with external regulations;

7. overseeing, in collaboration with the Director of Grants, external funding to support and enhance student success programs;

8. developing comprehensive programs that promote college-wide retention of students;

9. developing and administering a college budget to support his or her areas of responsibility;

10. developing initiatives that support the strategic plan, mission, and vision of the college;

11. developing, in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Educational Resources, initiatives between area high school faculty and SCCC faculty to bridge student transition from high school to college;

12. performing other duties as assigned by the College Dean of Students.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in an appropriate discipline and relevant experience in higher education administration, preferably at the community college level.
