College Associate Dean for Nursing
Position Description
The College Associate Dean for Nursing reports to the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, and specific duties include the following:
1. supervising nursing faculty and staff;
2. responding to faculty issues and student concerns;
3. coordinating adjunct staffing;
4. participating in the recruitment, evaluation, selection, and orientation of new full-time and adjunct faculty members;
5. expanding partnerships with the community and with area hospitals and nursing facilities;
6. maintaining relationships with the NLN, SED, and SUNY;
7. assisting in the development and management of the nursing budget;
8. identifying grants and other sources of external funding;
9. following through on efforts aimed at unifying the college’s nursing programs;
10. recruiting students for the nursing program;
11. reviewing and maintaining admissions standards;
12. developing guidelines for nursing courses, academic substitution and waiver requests, and for independent-study and challenge-exam requests;
13. coordinating curriculum development and evaluation;
14. guiding course and programmatic assessments of learning outcomes;
15. encouraging the integration of technology and distance education into the nursing curriculum;
16. making appropriate revisions to the college catalog;
17. preparing new and revised program proposals for submission to SUNY, SED, and NLNAC;
18. reviewing discipline-related enrollment patterns and projections;
19. consulting on evaluations, reappointments, and promotions of faculty and staff;
20. coordinating activities related to accreditation, including formulation of self-study and follow-up reports and documents;
21. developing initiatives that support the strategic plan, vision, and mission of the college;
22. serving as a building administrator, if so assigned by the Campus Dean;
23. other related duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a master’s degree in nursing (Ph.D. preferred). Also required are at least 5 years of college-level teaching experience; 2 to 3 years of college-level administrative experience; clinical expertise; established relationships with local, state, regional and national agencies; and memberships in professional organizations.
