College Associate Dean for Instructional Technology
Position Description
The College Associate Dean provides college-wide leadership and promotes programmatic effectiveness within the areas of functional responsibility outlined in the position description. The College Associate Dean is expected to work cooperatively with college and campus personnel and function within a team environment. The individual will communicate with a wide range of academic and student-affairs units to manage, coordinate, monitor, and assess the implementation of college projects and initiatives within the functional responsibilities of the position. The College Associate Dean has managerial, supervisory, and evaluative responsibilities for respective personnel and programs. An annual performance review of the College Associate Dean for Instructional Technology will be conducted by the College Dean of Faculty on or before June 30 of each academic year.
The College Associate Dean for Instructional Technology reports to the College Dean of Faculty and has the following responsibilities:
1. providing leadership for the implementation of technology-related strategic initiatives in the instructional operations of the college;
2. reviewing and evaluating campus instructional-technology plans, associated budgets, and related position descriptions to ensure college-wide consistency and efficient use of resources;
3. collaborating with campus-based personnel in arranging workshops and training sessions for faculty in the use of instructional technology;
4. serving on the College Computing Council and on other instructional/technology-based committees as a resource person;
5. developing draft procedures, policies, specifications, etc. designed to ensure a strong and cohesive system-wide use of instructional technology;
6. assists in securing grant-funding sources and in arranging partnering agreements with private-sector enterprises actively engaged in contemporary technological matters;
7. providing direct assistance to campus instructional personnel in all areas related to the acquisition, use, maintenance and experimentation with instructional technology;
8. providing leadership and technical support in the use of distance-learning methodology;
9. develops initiatives that support the strategic plan, vision, and mission of the college;
10. performing other duties as assigned by the College Dean of Faculty.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for this position include a master’s degree, doctorate preferred, in Instructional Technology or a related area and experience in higher education administration.
