College Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement
Position Description

The College-wide Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, and specific responsibilities include:

1.   implementing and managing the annual plan for the Office of Institutional Advancement;

2.   coordinating management and oversight of the daily operation of the Office of Institutional Advancement, which includes the areas of development, alumni and retiree affairs, marketing and public affairs, publications, and grants;

3.   assisting the College Vice President in the supervision of all personnel assigned to the Office of Institutional Advancement;

4.   overseeing program planning and implementation in line with the objectives established for the Office of Institutional Advancement found within the college’s strategic plan;

5.  providing support for marketing, image building, public-affairs activities and special projects;     

6.  assisting the College Vice President in providing institutional leadership for all fund-raising campaigns and programs;

7.  working with the development team to implement a comprehensive development program incorporating both capital and annual fundraising.  Meeting annually-established fund-raising goal; 

8. representing the college in networking opportunities that serve to effectively identify and cultivate prospective business and individual contributor relationships;

9.  soliciting contributions and other support from businesses, organizations and individuals, including college staff, retirees and alumni;

10.  initiating and managing a program of effective stewardship, including regular contact with major donors and recurring contributors in order to promote new initiatives and retain and maximize annual giving to the College Foundation;

11.  participating in the process of identifying and soliciting individuals for Foundation Board membership and other partnership opportunities that may be beneficial to the College Foundation;

12.   representing the College and Foundation at functions and events, as well as through personal, professional, and organizational affiliations;

13.  developing and administering a college budget to support individual areas of responsibility;

14.  developing initiatives that support the strategic plan, vision, and mission of the college;

15. assisting the Vice President for Institutional Advancement in all other assigned duties, projects, and programs.


Qualifications:

Minimum of a master’s degree required (a doctorate preferred), with relevant experience in higher education.  A senior administrator with progressive experience in public affairs, development, communications, advertising, marketing and planning implementation.  Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite applications.  Experience with Raisers Edge database a plus.

The successful applicant will be a highly organized professional with excellent written, verbal, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills.   The successful applicant will also be a detail-oriented professional with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.  Candidates must be willing and able to travel, be able to successfully manage multiple priorities, willing to work flexible hours and be able to work well with a diverse constituency.
