ASSISTANT DEAN OF CONTINUING EDUCATION
The Assistant Dean of Continuing Education reports to the Vice President of Workforce and Development and is responsible for developing a campus based college continuing education program. Responsibilities include the following:
1. Supervise and manage a continuing education (non-credit) program that offers courses designated by the State University of New York for state aid (remedial, vocational and community service areas of interest for the general public), as well as courses offered in response to specific community needs;
2. Coordinate, develop and institute new non-credit courses in response to the service area needs of each campus;
3. Oversee the development and revision of non-credit course materials for inclusion in college publications
4. Coordinate, with campus-based college personnel, the allocation of classroom space for continuing education and assist in the design of such classrooms for continuing education programs, where applicable;
5. In coordination with campus administration, recruit continuing education faculty and evaluate course content;
6. Supervise and evaluate coordinators for specialized continuing education series, in such areas as health, finance and personal enrichment;
7. In consultation with the campuses and the Office of Community Relations, develop the content for the newsprint class schedule each semester and other direct mail advertising media relative to such a program;
8. Develop and offer, as appropriate, in-service training for faculty, administrators and staff;
9. Develop, organize and implement appropriate conference series on topics of interest to the general public;
10. In coordination with campus departments, develop and offer non-credit continuing education and professional (non-credit) training programs for licensed professionals and paraprofessionals;
11. Oversee the management of records required to support application for state aid revenues for continuing education courses, applicable grants courses, learning centers and police academy courses;
12. Develop and implement continuing education courses using the distance learning modality;
13. Prepare and manage the continuing education budget;
14. Prepare annual reports of continuing education program data;
15. In consultation with the college grants office, prepare grant proposals and manage grant-funded programs, as applicable; and
16. Other duties as assigned by the Vice President.
